After completing their training, technical drawers produce technical drawings and other documents independently on the basis of sketches, drafts and instructions from designers. They complete the engineer's drafts and add details of the specifications to produce standard drawings from which functional system parts can be produced. They use the drawing board less and less for this purpose as a result of technical developments and instead increasingly use a computer-based drawing program, so-called CAD software.
