Siempelkamp supplies two (2) complete lines for the production of wood-based products to South-East Asia

The “notice to proceed” has been issued for the contract with Sumatera Prima Fibreboard (SPF), Indonesia, for a thin-MDF line.

Just recently another contract with our customer Metro Particle Co. Ltd., Thailand, to supply a complete particleboard plant was signed.

Both contracts came through at the same time and have given Siempelkamp’s Asia business fresh impetus. “The need for machines for the production of wood-based products remains high. Our customers seem to have fewer problems financing projects. Therefore, we can expect new interesting orders for the future,” says Dr.-Ing. Hans W. Fechner, spokesperson of Siempelkamp Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH & Co. KG, Krefeld, Germany.

The company’s strategy to acquire important component suppliers for wood-based products production lines during difficult economic times is paying off now. These suppliers include Siempelkamp Energy Systems, formerly Metso, and the front-end manufacturer Hombak.

Furthermore, Siempelkamp and CMC Texpan, Italy, will manufacture and assemble complete gluing systems in the future.

These offers have convinced the customers in Thailand and Indonesia.

SPF ordered the complete scope of supply from the woodyard to the packing line.   SES will provide the energy system and Büttner the dryer for this order. The extremely thin MDF starting with a thickness of 1.0 mm will be produced on a forming and press line with a 9’ x 23.8 m ContiRoll®. The mat forming machines and the gluing system will be made by Siempelkamp/CMC Texpan. SHS will supply the cooling and stacking line, the storage system, and the sophisticated finishing equipment including a sanding line and a book saw for the MDF line which will run at speeds of 2000 mm/s.

Metro Particle ordered a particleboard line with an 8’ x 40.4 m ContiRoll® press. Siempelkamp will provide the planning and engineering, SES the energy system and Büttner the dryer. Again Siempelkamp will supply the complete gluing system. The cooling and stacking line, the storage system as well as the finishing equipment including a sanding line and a two-pass-saw system will again be made by SHS.

Both lines will be manufactured with parts made at several different Siempelkamp production locations. Next to the electronics and parts for the presses which are made in Krefeld, parts will also be supplied from Siempelkamp production locations in Italy, the Czech Republic and Wuxi in China. With this production strategy Siempelkamp can guarantee high quality at competitive prices.

Worth mentioning is the fact that both customers are already operating Siempelkamp equipment which has been running exceptionally.

The construction start for the two new lines is scheduled for mid 2010.

Siempelkamp is known for its quick ramp-up times. The production of the first board is also forecast for 2010.
